Ghost Town

Lundy

Mono County, CA

Coordinate verified

Defunct gold-camp community (formerly Mill Creek) at the west end of Lundy Lake in Lundy Canyon, northwest of Mono Lake. Grew after 1878 around the May Lundy Mine and the W.J. Lundy sawmill that supplied Bodie; organized in the Homer Mining District. Avalanches, fire, and lake expansion reduced the town; scant buildings, cemetery remnants, and mine/mill relics remain in a dramatic glaciated canyon. California historic point of interest; not Bodie or Dog Town.
