Failed 1880s silver-camp site of the Great Sierra Consolidated Silver Company on the high east side of Tioga Pass, just outside Yosemite’s east entrance. Planners dreamed of a major city; by about 1884 only a handful of buildings stood, and the camp was abandoned by the late 1880s. Two restored cabins, mill foundations, and the gated Great Sierra Mine adit remain on a short, popular day hike from Junction Campground / Tioga Lake pullouts.
