One of Nevada's best-preserved mining boomtowns on US-50. Silver-lead discovery (1864) made Eureka second only to the Comstock; the Eureka Historic District (NRHP 1973) packs the 1880 Opera House, 1876 County Courthouse, and Sentinel Museum into a few walkable blocks.
