CDFW Type-C wildlife area of about 232 acres of freshwater wetland and springs on the southwestern shore of Owens Lake at Cartago. One of the last spring-fed wetland remnants on the dry lake’s edge—habitat for waterfowl, wading birds, and shorebirds including western snowy plovers, white-faced ibis, and rails—within the Nationally Significant Important Bird Area of Owens Lake (144 species documented on the WA).
