Primary developed recreation site on the west shore of Walker Lake, a rare perennial Great Basin lake along US-95 north of Hawthorne. BLM Walker Lake Recreation Area offers camping loops, shoreline access, and views of the Wassuk Range rising from alkaline water important to migratory birds and local wildlife. A classic loneliest-highway stop for swimming (when conditions allow), paddling, and desert-lake camping.
