Death Valley, CA

Coordinate verified

Short-lived 1906–07 gold-camp townsite in Echo Canyon on the Funeral Mountains side of Death Valley National Park—named for steel magnate Charles M. Schwab’s mining interests and notable in local history for women-led camp management. Today only tent platforms, cans, and scattered foundations remain along the 4x4 Echo Canyon Road past the Hole-in-the-Wall narrows and near the Inyo Mine complex.
