Rhodes Salt Marsh

Playas and salt flats of the historic Virginia Salt Marsh, mined from 1862 when camels hauled salt to Comstock mills—later a Carson & Colorado railroad stop and 20th-century alkali/borax works. Broad white pan and evaporite geology sit beside US-95 between Mina and Hawthorne, readable as both industrial landscape and Basin-and-Range lakebed remnant.
