Kern River Preserve

Audubon California’s South Fork Kern River preserve protects one of the state’s largest remaining lowland riparian forests—cottonwood–willow woodland and adjacent scrub that form a Globally Important Bird Area. More than 330 bird species have been recorded and over 200 nest onsite, including western yellow-billed cuckoo, summer tanager, and willow flycatcher. The corridor is a premier Central Valley / Sierra-edge birding destination near Weldon and Lake Isabella.
