1930s Bureau of Reclamation arch-gravity dam on the Colorado River at the Nevada–Arizona line. Visitor center, powerplant tours, memorials, and the dam roadway on the Nevada side form one of the Southwest’s major civil-engineering landmarks, built during the Depression to control floods, store water, and generate power for the region.
