Ghost Town

Greenwater

Inyo County, CA

Coordinate verified

Short-lived copper boom town (1906–about 1909) on the east side of the Black Mountains in Death Valley country. At its peak Greenwater claimed banks, newspapers, and thousands of claim stakes before the ore played out; today only foundations, dumps, and desert road traces remain on public land approaches—a pure boom-and-bust ghost of the Funeral/Black Mountains mining rush.
