Route 66 border ghost town straddling the New Mexico–Texas line on a former Rock Island Railroad siding renamed Glenrio in 1908. Motels, cafes, and filling stations froze after Interstate 40 bypassed the town in the 1970s. The Glenrio Historic District is on the National Register; classic motel and café shells line the old alignment—view from public roads.
