Ghost Town

Giles

Coordinate unverified

Mormon farming settlement on the Fremont River in Blue Valley, Wayne County, inhabited about 1883–1919 and named for Bishop Henry Giles. Fertile soils and a long growing season supported roughly two hundred people until repeated Fremont floods wrecked irrigation. Two rock buildings and foundations remain; flash-flood risk and private ranch land still define access.
