Named spring and Hole-in-the-Rock Trail camp on Hole-in-the-Rock Road in Grand Staircase–Escalante / Glen Canyon country. After Forty Mile Spring, Mormon pioneer companies of 1879–80 established a base camp here about six miles from the famous cleft while crews blasted the wagon road down to the Colorado. Today it is a recognized historic waypoint with popular primitive camping among Entrada sandstone forms — distinct from Dance Hall Rock and the San Juan County Hole-in-the-Rock overlook.
