Ancestral Pueblo great-house community along the Animas River in the modern city of Aztec. Self-guided half-mile trail through Aztec West (400+ rooms at peak), intact original timber roofs, and a fully reconstructed Great Kiva. A Chacoan outlier that later became a regional center (late 1000s–1200s CE); museum, heritage garden, and Old Spanish National Historic Trail segment on-site.
