Amador City

One of California’s smallest incorporated cities and a classic Mother Lode gold-rush main street on Old Highway 49 between Sutter Creek and Drytown. Founded in the early 1850s after placer and hard-rock strikes; Keystone and other mines made it a durable camp. Today a walkable historic commercial row with period brick buildings, shops, and easy highway access — distinct from nearby Volcano and Fiddletown already in the atlas.
