Allenville

Flood-abandoned mid-20th-century all-Black farming community east of Buckeye on the Gila River floodplain—founded 1944 when John Allen subdivided a square mile for African American families excluded from other Valley land markets, then emptied after catastrophic 1978 flooding. Almost no standing town fabric remains (salt cedar and weeds dominate; careful eyes may still spot brick remnants); the pin marks the historic townsite for landscape/history field context, not a rebuilt tourist street.
